Strickland for their service as members of the National Board of Directors
and their continued dedication to NDA.
An Unprecedented Year of Accomplishments
What a year! Now three years removed from the merger and establishment of the National
Deer Association (NDA), I am pleased to report that the organization has really hit its stride.
I’ve always believed that the best time to put your foot on the gas is when you think things are
already going well to avoid getting lulled into accepting average or just expected results. While
2022 was a great year for NDA, I am pleased to report that we exceeded our accomplishments
in many areas in 2023 as you will read about in this annual report. While some program areas
increased outputs in many ways, we made investment in others to set us on a course for even
better years to come.
Below is a small sampling of NDA accomplishments over the last year. In 2023, NDA:
Addressed landscape-level access and forest health issues and improved
430,291acres of public land in 17 states with a total project investment of just
under $5 million as part of the Public Lands Initiative.
Welcomed nearly 2 million unique visitors to the NDA website, further
establishing the organization as the go to place for credible wild deer
conservation and habitat information.
Held 54 Field to Fork events in 18 states producing 723 new hunters.
Achieved unprecedented reach on our social media platforms, including
11.4 million video views on TikTok, 1.3 million video views on YouTube,
and surpassing 100,000 followers on Instagram.
Certi昀椀ed more than 400 Deer Steward program graduates across all levels,
ultimately impacting nearly 1 million acres.
Invested in our Grassroots program by hiring two additional full-time Regional
Directors and, for the 昀椀rst time, committing to a robust marketing e昀昀ort by
hiring a Chief Marketing O昀케cer.
More than doubled the number of individuals who 昀椀nancially supported
NDA from the previous year.
There is much more to come in the report, but I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that these
outcomes are a culmination of the e昀昀orts of the sta昀昀, board of directors, volunteers, members,
and personal and corporate supporters. On behalf of our board of directors and sta昀昀, I would
like to thank you for your commitment to wild deer, hunting, and conservation.
